Recently, Carol Mittelstaedt sat down with Rev. Jordan Voges, Pastor at Good Shepherd in Warwick, New York, to find out a little more about him.

Interesting and Fun Facts:

• Rev. Jordan Voges is 28 years old and hails from Minnesota. This is his first call. He was ordained and installed at Good Shepherd in June 2020.
• Jordan is married to Alyson, who is a graphic designer. They have a baby boy, James, born in August of 2020 and are expecting a second child in October.
• He received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and is currently finishing a Master’s degree in sacred theology. His thesis looks at Carl Sagan and how compelling stories influence how we live our religious lives.
• Jordan enjoys running and hiking in nearby Harriman State Park.

What or who first led you to be interested in the ministry?

“I grew up in a Lutheran church and from the age of 13 or so was interested in becoming a pastor. I never really waivered from that and after high school went to Concordia University, St. Paul’s Minnesota, and then on to seminary in St. Louis. “

What aspect of ministry makes you jazzed?

“I am really looking forward to promoting fellowship and formation. With COVID restrictions lifting and normalcy being reintroduced, moving out of isolation and rekindling our shared life as Christians is very important. And with the cultural shifts of our time, it is essential we are being formed by good teaching and practices to faithfully bear the cross together.”
