Resolution 1-08
To Give Thanks to God for Commissioned
Ministers of Religion
Whereas, The Lutheran Church—Missouri
Synod not only rosters Ministers of
Religion—Ordained, but also Ministers
of Religion—Commissioned; and
Whereas, the prophet Isaiah says, “How
beautiful upon the mountains are the
feet of him who brings good news”
(Isaiah 52:7 ESV); and
Whereas, Ministers of
Religion–Commissioned do beautiful and
essential work of Word and Service in
the Church; and
Whereas, Ministers of
Religion–Commissioned often are not
recognized and appreciated as they
should be; therefore let it be
Resolved, that the LCMS Atlantic
District in convention give thanks to
God for Commissioned Ministers of
Religion by rising to sing, “How Clear
Is Our Vocation, Lord,” (LSB 853); and
be it further
Resolved, that the LCMS Atlantic
District in convention direct the LCMS
Atlantic District Board of Directors to
establish a compensation scale for
Ministers of Religion–Commissioned; and
be it finally
Resolved, that the LCMS Atlantic
District in convention commit to a
process of dialogue concerning suffrage
for Ministers of Religion–Commissioned.
