Resolution 1-05
To Welcome Unity Lutheran Church in
Albany as a Congregation of the
Atlantic District
Whereas, Christ Lutheran Church in
Albany was founded in 1931 and closed
on May 12, 2019; and
Whereas, St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church
in Albany was founded in 1854 and
merged with St. Paul’s in 2025 to
become Unity Lutheran Church; and
Whereas, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Albany was founded in 1838 and merged
with St. Matthew’s in 2025 to become
Unity Lutheran Church; and
Whereas, Unity Lutheran Church in
Albany was founded in 2025 and meets in
the building of the former Christ
Lutheran Church in Albany; and
Whereas, statistics and trends suggest
that more congregations will need to
consider similar arrangements in the
near future; and
Whereas, the Lord Jesus prays for the
unity of his disciples just as He and
the Father are united (John 17);
Therefore Let It Be
Resolved, that The LCMS Atlantic
District in convention warmly welcomes
Unity Lutheran Church, Albany by
presenting them with a gift of welcome
on behalf of the LCMS Atlantic
District; And Be It Finally
Resolved, that the LCMS Atlantic
District in convention gives thanks to
Almighty God for Unity Lutheran Church,
Albany by rising to sing LSB 901 Open
Now Thy Gates of Beauty, stanzas 1 and
2.
