Resolution 1-03
To Encourage Church Worker Wellness in
The LCMS Atlantic District
Whereas, Resolution 4-03A of the 2019
LCMS convention reaffirmed the seven
mission priorities of the LCMS, stating
that "our commitment as LCMS
congregations and workers is to walk
together with the Word of God as our
only guide for doctrine and practice;”
and
Whereas, “Promote and nurture the
spiritual, emotional, financial, and
physical well-being of pastors and
professional church workers” is one of
the seven mission priorities of the
LCMS; and
Whereas, recent nationwide surveys have
found that clergy and church workers
experience high amounts of stress and
are at risk for burnout—especially in
the post-Covid-19 pandemic world; and
Whereas, Lutheran theology and mission
are equipped for ministering to the
varied needs of church workers;
therefore be it
Resolved, that the LCMS Atlantic
District in convention ask the Bishop
and District President to use LCMS
resources and other resources insofar
as they do not contradict the Word of
God or our confession of faith, to
foster the wellness of the workers of
the Church; and be it further
Resolved, that this include allocating
finances to foster the wellness of
workers of the Church; and be it
finally
Resolved, that progress on this work be
reported to the 63rd Regular Convention
of the LCMS Atlantic District.
