By God’s grace, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Yonkers continues to serve as a faithful witness to Christ in the heart of an increasingly secular and pluralistic society. At the very center of the life together is the proclamation of Christ and Him crucified—in His Word and Sacraments. This remains the parish’s primary joy and calling.
With the coming of Pastor Abel Cesar Villos, the past two years have marked the joyful resumption of the parish’s teaching ministries—Bible studies, catechesis, and discipleship—all pointing hearts to Christ. His most recent installation has further encouraged and renewed our commitment to the Gospel.
Holy Trinity rejoices in the addition of new members to our flock and the celebration of two holy baptisms—clear signs of God’s gracious work among us. While challenges remain, the cross continues to stand as a beacon of hope. Holy Trinity prays that the parish may remain open to the neighborhood and welcoming to all who seek rest in the arms of Jesus—guided by the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Lutheran Church of Our Saviour

The Evangelical Lutheran Church and School of Our Saviour enters this new triennium with an amazing missional opportunity. Through creative planning, the school will expand through a strategic partnership with Martin Luther School in Queens (Maspeth), NY. This will allow the church and school to have multiple campuses through the partnership. Additionally, Our Saviour will strengthen its long-term financial health. In this new triennium, the parish shall continue its incredible mission, sharing Christ through education. Further, the parish shall strengthen our partnership with Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, increasing our impact in The Bronx. Our Saviour shall further engage our community through the pursuit of strategic partnerships, seeking to develop and enhance programming that guides people into the congregation. As the people of God in the Morris Park section of The Bronx, Our Saviour continually gives thanks to God for His many blessings and for the ability to faithfully live the mission of the parish: “The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Saviour is a faithful community in Christ that receives and shares the gifts of God.”
Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd in Brooklyn kept similar activities during these past years: Sunday worship service is at 9:30, with the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month with Holy Communion. Bible Study is on Wednesdays at 11:00 am. Lunch Bunch meetings occur on Wednesdays at noon. Council and Prayer Meetings happen once a month (3rd Tuesday Evening). We have an outreach program with the distribution of bibles and tracks. We don't have Sunday School program since there are no kids in the congregation. Church attendance is around 15 people on Sundays.
Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church

Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, by God’s grace, is a praying community of service that receives, teaches, celebrates, and shares Christ Jesus.” As a parish of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod where “God’s People Pray,’ Redeemer has been blessed in this triennium as the parish continues to recover and rebuild from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic with the scores of deaths and geographical movements that accompanied it. Outreaches to babies, children, teenagers, adults, and seniors has continued in earnest as the addition of a Steinway grand piano complements the pipe organ, harpsichord, and other percussion instruments played in worship of the Lord. Providing help to the wider Church remains a hallmark of this parish. As such, Redeemer continues to be highlighted by Forming Lutherans (forminglutherans.org) as a congregation that employs the Ancient Catechumenate model for faith formation and discipleship, including being highlighted in the Concordia Seminary Multiethnic Symposium and the book, Journey with Jesus written by The Rev. Dr. Kent Burreson and Deaconess Dr. Rhoda Schuler. Cantor Jean Boehler continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. Deaconess Raquel A. Rojas who has served as the President of the LWML Atlantic District, has served teacher for the LCMS brand new Lutheran Visitation Education, and has been given the Standard Tier Specialized Care Endorsement of the LCMS. In November of 2022, Redeemer’s fifth Pastor, while continuing to serve as the Synod President’s Voting Representative on the LCMS Board for National Mission, also became the Bishop and President of the LCMS Atlantic District; he serves the wider Church with Redeemer’s unanimous vote of confidence, encouragement, and support.
Saint Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church

St. Peter's Lutheran Brooklyn continues in its ministry in the East New York section of Brooklyn, specifically in the Cypress Hills neighborhood. St. Peter's meets twice a week for worship, on Sunday at 9:45 and on Wednesday at 7 PM. Services are live-streamed on You Tube. Pastor David Benke has been joined by Associate Pastor Henry Chanderdatt, who was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry during the triennium and serves bi-vocationally with great joy and dedication. St. Peter's Lay Deacons - Sonia Holder, David Chanderdatt and Steven Rein - provide assistance in teaching, visitation and serving. The congregation is lively in worship and multi-cultural in outreach; to that end, St. Peter's hosts the Ozone Park Bengali congregation each Sunday at 2 PM.
St. Mark's Lutheran Church

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church has been called by the gospel to create a community of faith, hope, and love. Consecrated for this task by the Word of God and Prayer, we engage in teaching, witness, mercy, life together, and worship.” Since the last convention of the Atlantic District, St. Mark’s has sought to rebuild its leadership team to support this mission after the challenging impacts of COVID-19. Our parochial school continues to allow us to reach families in our neighborhood with the grace of God in Jesus Christ. Arts in Mission – NY, our “Mom and Tot” musical outreach, is a valued way to create a sense of community while making music. Events such as our annual Oktoberfest give us an opportunity to build relationships with those outside our congregation in order to share the love of Jesus. After many years of stability in our staffing, St. Mark’s is facing a time of transition. After 37 years of service, our Organist and Director of Music, Mr. Philip Masiello, retired at the end of 2024. Mrs. Debra Masiello, the Principal of our Christian day school, has announced her retirement at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. We are currently involved in an effort to discern a path forward by which we might increase the enrollment in our school and the number of participants in our in-person worship offerings. In all we do, we seek to allow the Holy Spirit to use us as he continues to “call, gather, enlighten, and sanctify the whole Christian Church on earth.
St. Matthew Lutheran Church

Our congregation has dubbed itself "The Village Church in the Big City." Our building as well as our close-knit and warm congregation offer the feel of a small town community to people who appreciate this in Brooklyn's urban setting. Last September we celebrated our 145 congregational anniversary in a well-attended and joyous service for which the Rev. Matthew O. Staneck, First Vice-President of the Atlantic District, was the preacher. For the past 25 years, the Rev. Christoph M. Schulze has served as Pastor of St. Matthew's while also serving St. Paul's, Bushwick, with whom we are in a dual-parish arrangement. Sister Sonia Singh is our Council President, and steered St. Matthew's ably through the financial challenges of the pandemic years. The congregation sponsors a microschool, Great Commission Christian School, led by Sheryl Schulze; over the past 23 years, the school has served almost 100 children. We are also privileged to host L’Église francophone Saint-Mathieu, the French-speaking congregation of St. Matthew's. Led by The Rev. Jean Gardy Cenat, a rostered LCMS pastor, the French-speaking ministry this year celebrated its 12th year in a joint service and reception with our English-speaking congregation. By the power of the Holy Spirit, and built on the Rock who is our Lord Jesus Christ, this little village church continues to gather to celebrate God's gifts of Word and Sacrament, and even to send out workers into the Lord's harvest field. For these gifts of God we are truly grateful.
St. Paul Lutheran Church

St. Paul's, on the corner of Knickerbocker Avenue and Palmetto Street, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, is an ethnically diverse and growing congregation which is in a dual-parish arrangement with St. Matthew's, Canarsie. The last years have brought to our congregation an influx of younger people from the Williamsburg-Bushwick communities, some of whom have been involved in the weekly Six In the City young adult fellowship often hosted by St. Paul's. In conjunction with leaders from St. John's (College Point) and Christ Church (Woodside) we have been an integral part of the District's new Caribbeans For Christ ministry, and St. Paul's hosted the inaugural gathering of this group. Our LWML chapter has been revived, and we were glad to host a major meeting of the Triune Zone this past fall. Through a grant from the LWML, Deacon Miriam Lamboy is leading the establishment of a Braille reading materials production center at our congregation. The congregation accomplished major repairs on both the church building and the rectory over the past four years, without incurring major debts. A vibrant music rotation includes 6 musicians, some of whom also support the congregation's tradition of house services for special occasions. Along with St. Matthew's, we will be sending a group of 7 teenagers to the national youth gathering, "Endure," in New Orleans this July. Pastor Christoph M. Schulze has served St. Paul's for 25 years, and is assisted in his responsibilities as dual-parish pastor by the 8 Deacons of our congregation. Joshua Mukhlall has served very capably as President of our Council in his first two-year term in this capacity. God's Spirit has brought life and renewal to our congregation again and again over the past few decades; we thank and praise Him for doing so, and continue to pray that the ministry of Word and Sacrament at St. Paul's will draw many more to our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church continues to be ever thankful to God for the growth that He brings to the congregation, both in faith and in hope for our future. With the “City of Yes” initiative passed by the New York City Council, Trinity begins this triennium with exploring a potential development project on the church property. This project would further strengthen our partnership with The Evangelical Lutheran Church and School of Our Saviour in the Bronx, allowing both congregations to make even greater impact in the borough. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is also looking forward to pursuing strategic partnerships in the community, seeking to be a congregation that lives to serve in ways guided and blessed by the Lord. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the congregation has grown, with young families entering the neighborhood and seeking out the church. This has led to baptisms and the receiving of communion for the first time for many children and young people—a blessing that only our Lord can provide. As a ‘Family of Faith in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx,’ Trinity continually gives thanks to God for His many blessings and for the ability to faithfully live the mission of our parish: “Trinity exists to receive and share God’s gifts.”

Trinity continues to serve the Mount Pleasant/Central Westchester community with the Good News of Jesus Christ, gathering around Word and Sacrament in worship, praise and growth in faith; welcoming newcomers and slowly recovering from COVID-year slumps; and living out the new life in Christ with a variety of activities and events for all ages and demographics. Trinity Preschool, facing competing public preschools opening in our area, was able, with its excellent local reputation, to welcome both 3- and 4-year old classes again this past year. Pastor David Elseroad was on sabbatical earlier this year, during which Trinity was well served by retired Pastor James Gajadhar and Trinity’s Atlantic District Lay Deacon David DiLeo. True Light Lutheran Church

True Light continues to shine the True Light of Jesus Christ in the heart of New York City. True Light is a welcoming and worshiping community of faith. For nearly 90 years, True Light remains a beacon of the Good News of Jesus in Chinatown, Manhattan. Our five-story lighted cross towers above the busy corner of Worth and Mulberry Streets pointing to Jesus, the True Light of the world. In 2026, True Light looks forward to celebrating our 90th anniversary in Christ. True Light has Sunday worship services in English at 10:30 AM, and in Chinese (Cantonese and some Mandarin) at 12:30 PM with prolonged coffee hour, fellowship, and meals following both services. On community and civic engagement, True Light sponsors and hosts troops of boy scouts and girl scouts, as well as a Chinese language summer school. Our Queens Mission Sunday services concluded in May, 2025, and we are thankful for the dedicated leadership of Atlantic District Lay Deacon Andy Jao. For the past two years, True Light has worked directly with Six in the City, the young adult Lutheran ministry group for New York City, and regularly hosts events for young Lutherans in New York metro such as Bible studies and roof-top receptions. In addition, True Light runs a twice annual flee market with revenues raised to directly support our scholarship fund for church members in college and graduate school. True Light is presently working on commencing a detailed ministry and mission plan with LCEF for optimization of engaging NYC with the gospel of hope.
Village Lutheran Church

"Knowing, Living and Sharing the Love of Christ” is the focus of Village’s ministry. Since the closing of Concordia College-New York, the church has also served as a pastoral presence and “homecoming destination” for alumni and former faculty and staff even as she works at creating new partnerships with Iona University. Ministry areas over the past three years include a healthy Alpha Program, daytime Bible Study, Conference Call Prayer Service, a growing deaconate including a Pastoral Assistant Morris Mayer, The Sluberski Film Series, The Lois and Merlin Rehm Pastoral Residency, AA Programs for men and women and a partnership with NY Presbyterian Westchester Treehouse Bereavement program for children and families. The Wartburg Mt. Vernon and the Lutheran Counseling Center continue to be partners and resources to our membership. The church is finishing a Capital Campaign called “Strengthening God’s House” that will make various capital improvements to the campus over the next three years in celebration of the church’s 110th anniversary in 2026 and the Chapel School’s 80th anniversary 2027.
The church's Chapel School, a pre-school 2-year-old - 8th grade parochial school saw lower enrollment after the pandemic and has been working to raise enrollment to pre-pandemic levels. New programs for preschool 2-year-olds, and more 3-year-old offerings as well as a “guardian and me program” called “Joyful Jams” have been added. The school is led by Principal Michael Schultz, and Preschool Director Maureen Butler. The school was reaccredited with Middle States and Lutheran Schools Accreditation in 2024. Commissioned workers include Mrs. Marcia Kollmann, Mrs. Kate Marino, Ms. Deborah Reiss, Mr. Michael Schultz, and Ms. Katie Vogt.
