Grace and peace to you in Christ Jesus! On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of Lutheran Social Services of NY, I wish to bring greetings as you gather.
To begin, thank you for your support, prayers and assistance as we provide a variety of services to more than 7500 of our underserved neighbors every day. As our ministry serves those in need, we also acknowledge that our work could not be accomplished without so many of you. Whether you provide an article of clothing, a can of food or financial resources, our work has expanded because so many of you see value in the work that we do and thus give your time, talent and treasure in helping us serve those most in need.
As an organization founded by a group of Lutheran Pastors more than 135 years ago, we remain committed to the principles espoused by our founders as evidenced by the fact that the majority of our Board of Directors remain members of the Lutheran faith and that at least 51% are members of the LCMS.
Over the years, we have grown from providing orphanage services to German immigrants to a variety of programs, staffed by more than 550 human service professionals providing Early Childhood Education, Enhanced Family Foster Care, Emergency Food Pantries, Immigration Legal Services, Residential/Supportive Housing programs, Prevention Services, and Family Shelters. It is our pleasure to be able to serve.
