Greetings to the Atlantic District Convention from Concordia University Chicago
We at Concordia University Chicago send heartfelt greetings to our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Atlantic District. There are great reasons to rejoice with you. First, we rejoice in the salvation we share together. Christ washes us, grafting us together in one body, the body of Christ. We gather around the Lord’s table to receive nourishment. We are forgiven and strengthened as we eat and drink Christ’s body and blood. We are one body, one Church, formed and cared for out of His great love.
Second, we rejoice in the work we share together as we are equipped by Christ to serve in our various vocations. We live, serve, witness, nurture, and confess together. Today, the work of preparing church workers is crucial. The need to equip young people for various vocations that serve the neighbor and the common good is great. We convey to you our commitment to a partnership in ministry and mission as we all reside together in our fraternal love that finds its source in the cross of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior of the nations.
We include as a petition in our litany of prayers that the Lord may pave a road for Concordia University Chicago and the Atlantic District to do more work together. We are prayerfully moving forward to cultivate and prepare students for life in the Church and society. We recently established a new scholarship called Prepared to Serve, through which church work students pay no more than $5,000 per year in tuition and mandatory fees. We are the Church’s institution.
The Lord bless you. The Lord make His face shine upon your congregations and schools. There is much cause for hope today. The Lord has strengthened his Church in the most complex and challenging of days. The Lord will do His work, for He is faithful. The seeds of the Gospel will grow. His love for you is enduring and will carry you through these days to make disciples of all nations.
