2019 Midwest Disaster Response

Midwest Disaster Appear 2019

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble
-Psalm 46:1

Once again, the power of rain, floods and tornadoes have devastated our brothers and sisters in the Midwest. These recent disasters have not been limited to just one area or state. Quite simply, they have rocked the Midwest. While these areas have been rocked, we pray that our Rock, our refuge and strength, Jesus Christ, will sustain all our friends through the rebuilding of their homes, businesses and lives. We pray that they all might persevere and remain faithful through these times.

Please add to the prayers of the church:

Most merciful Father, with compassion You hear the cries of your people in great distress. Be with all who now endure affliction and calamity especially those in the midwest. Bless the work of those who bring rescue and relief, and enable us to aid and comfort those who are suffering that they may find renewed hope and purpose; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

(See Lutheran Service Altar Book, p 993)

With that in mind we ask that you personally and/or congregationally consider donations to assist the Midwest recovery effort. All checks should be made out to the Atlantic District, LC-MS. Please place disaster recovery in the memo line. The Atlantic District will then distribute funds to Nebraska and other districts that are in need.
